CAN 2025 Strategic Doing

Creating Actionable Projects for Our Agricultural Future

Thank you to our supporters and collaborators!

CAN’s strategic doing convening in March 2025 brought together key players across the agricultural ecosystem, including growers, workers, distributors, industry associations, tourism agencies and academics. Our aim was to address critical questions, such as: What does the future of small, sustainable cannabis and food agriculture look like? How can we foster food sovereignty and support small farms in working collaboratively? Over 60 people signed up for the event and four pathfinder projects have emerged.

Join Us to Collaborate

Imagine the Emerald Triangle craft cannabis supply chain joining forces to build something so strong and so connected that our products resist corporate consolidation and successfully capitalize on our worldwide reputation. What would that look like?

CAN held a Strategic Doing workshop in March 2025 and is guiding the progress of 4 pathfinder projects that emerged from the workshop. These collaborations use an ongoing Strategic Doing process in month-long cycles. The agile development process allows us to learn from each other and our experiences, building our small, doable collaborations into larger projects with greater impacts.

In the Emerald Triangle, where small-scale farmers face challenges like sustainability, market access, and corporate consolidation, this hands-on, solution-focused approach is invaluable. Participants work together to co-create actionable steps aimed at strengthening our agricultural ecosystem and addressing shared challenges head-on.

What is Strategic Doing?

Strategic Doing is a proven methodology that shifts the focus from long-term planning to immediate action. Unlike traditional strategic planning, this approach empowers groups to collaboratively design and execute practical projects in real-time.

This methodology is particularly effective for tackling complex challenges where no single entity is in charge, making it ideal for the Emerald Traingle’s interconnected agricultural industries. By aligning resources and leveraging collective expertise, Strategic Doing enables diverse stakeholders to take meaningful, collaborative action.
